Serges Demefack

Serges Demefack's artwork is a mix of contemporary aesthetic and African art.
Ladies Series: Although Serges' art has been essentially minimalist and in large format over the past years, the present paintings are in small size and part of a unique realistic series called "Ladies" that he started sixteen years ago. These portraits are at the crossroads of modern and folk art and precisely passport photographs and sign board art as commonly seen in the streets of West Africa in front of barbershops and hair braiding saloons. His art reflects the cultural transition, the synthesis of the new and the old as currently being rediscovered in African earlier photographs. He considers portraiture as more than just a 'moment in time', but also as a reflection of a human's changing nature, fashion and mood. He prefers to paint more than one portrait at the time on the same canvas. Sergeo's work has been exhibited in galleries in Europe, Africa and in the US.

All Paintings are 'Acrylic on Plywood". Each painting costs $100.
